Why sploggers are bad for your website

Author: admin  |  Category: I say

First I am going to tell you what a splogger is and how to identify sploggers.  Sploggers are content thieves.  They use your and my RSS feed to create a website. In fact there is software available to the splogging community that searches the web for articles that mention their keywords. They then copy and paste your content to their websites. Some of them will even link back to your website with some inane link like “This great article originally posted by”and your blog name.

You see a pingback and assume it’s a compliment to your writing skills and you publish it. They do this a thousand times a day, hoping that you will publish the pingback. You do so and using your content and your vote these sites get better Google rankings. Factually the site with the most links is more likely to be higher on Google than the one with less.

So Sploggers use your content and your back link to become more important on the Internet than you are for your own content. It’s fairly simple to identify splogs. When you click back to the site and go to the front page you will see nothing original. The site is likely to have a dozen short articles linking back to other peoples articles.

Or even worse you will see sites that have advertising on  them with no content. Delete these pingbacks and never publish them.

So you have a bot and you think I am too stupid to spot it.

I receive on average 5 comment spam posts a day. I know you probably think a comment like the one below is flattering but seriously dude you need a brain scan, but they probably won’t find one in that mass of shit in your head.

I quote “Hello webmaster While searching for Blogs about make money quick I found your site is no way of getting rich quick WebTECH. Thank you for the effort you have put in.”

I know this is bot spam because you screwed up the language. Your bot is quite clever pulling my header out and adding it into your sentence. Basically this sentence has added no value to the conversation. It’s funny that because I add follow links to my commentors I like to know who I am linking to.

Whenever I receive a new comment and its the first time you have commented on my site. I visit the link hoping to find something of value. If there is nothing of value I mark the comment as spam and it does not appear on the site.

If the comment adds no value to the conversation like the example above or,”I agree”, “nice photo” “wow, great post” or a number of other inane comments, even if I find a real person at the end of the link it will not get allowed if it’s a first comment.

My regular posters get a lot more leeway. You see they have earned the right to make a pithy comment like “That sucks” or even “Bullshit”, but I won’t take that from someone that hasn’t the decency to at least add some value to the conversation.

I want you to comment, and I want you to get the Google juice but I want something in return, I want value added to my site. I wouldn’t even consider visiting your site and using a name like “Cheap Car Insurance” and add a pile of spammy links to my site.

If you are using a Nome de Plume use something that does not give me the idea you are trying to use my site to advertise some crap. I reserve the rights to advertise crap on my site. So you want good backlinks with keywords in them talk to me and maybe we can do a deal.

I am an Internet Marketer and I don’t like spam. I try and make sure any content I add adds value. That reminds me. You have one of those sites that uses my RSS feed to add content to your site, If you think that by pinging me with a backlink I am going to do the same. NO way. It’s bad enough that you are trying to use my content to improve the visits on your site but to even imagine I am going to a) Send you traffic, b)Give you Google juice is extremely hopeful.

Theres the idea, use an automated system to link to my sites and I will link back to yours. Folks these bastards are stupid, ugly oxygen thieves that are not adding to the conversation, they are stealing the conversation and trying to make money from your efforts. Ed Dale taught these stupid buttwipes how to do this.
