Selling is a skill that many believe they don’t have. I want you to know that I believe there are different types of sales people and the ones that do the best don’t sell, they communicate and build relationships. I have been selling for most of my adult life. The facts are that selling is about numbers, the more people you communicate with, the more will buy.
Selling without selling has always been the best process for me. When people buy your product rather than get sold the product, they are more likely to remain friends with you. My secret is that I never hard sell. Does this mean I don’t ask for the order? Not at all. If you don’t ask you don’t get. The difference between asking for the order and high pressure selling is huge.
High pressure selling is about beating objections, making the client’s decision for him. Cancellation on orders like that is huge. Trust me, I have that T Shirt. As a young man I was trained in the art of the cold call and the close. Watching a salesman use the techniques is a thing of beauty. The dance is incredible, taking someone from instilling the need to signing the contract in one evening. I watched people sign contracts to get the sales person out of their homes. But a guarantee was that the client would cancel the order the following day. Back in the cowboy days before the advent of the cooling off phase, the clients were battered into meeting their obligations in terms of the contract. The cooling off period has done much good for humanity.
Asking for the order is only done once the buyer is interested in making a decision, Its the art of answering all the questions before asking for the order, not asking for the order and removing all obstacles.
Many people claim not to be able to sell, So don’t just communicate. I found this video by Ed Dale and think its important that you watch it to learn a few concepts. There are a few things that Ed touches on that we have not yet discussed, don’t sweat about them We will discuss them sooner rather than later.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Salespeople are too concerned with their “selling” skills instead of how to enter a relationship that allows them to not have to sell at all.
