When you get into slanging matches with people because they make unsubstantiated comments about you, It can come back to haunt you a lot later. About a year or so ago I had a website called trafficdepartment.co.za. For some unknown reason I offended a bloke known as the colony. The colony is in the UK, has never met me, has never communicated directly with me and has never tested any system I designed.
His condemnation of me was without any merit at all. This post started an attack on me from a number of people. The fact that I tried to defend myself made it even worse, so I am not going to do so here. I did all that on this post by Uno De Waal at the time and am sticking with that.
The problem I have is that the unfounded allegations of the colony have been used to discredit me a year later. I have no way of getting rid of that blog or any of the others that were written about me, for two reasons. I cannot afford the legal costs, the most guilty of these people is in the UK and most of the others told me they would not remove the posts. They are based on opinion.
I too was guilty of making some very stupid statements in the heat of the emotions I went through at the time. I withdrew all my posts as this is what I was advised to do at the time. But here is the thing, people make accusations based on these unfounded allegations.
The accusations are enough, It seems today the burden of proof does not exist. In fact when you deny the allegations, innuendo is used to make the defense look underhanded. I for one am at a loss. I don’t know what to do about these issues.
The last war killed my business plans, The innuendo was enough to stop people buying. I sold 20 websites in 14 days and then nothing after these allegations were made. It seems that my business is once again under attack by an opposition web designer, if you are willing to concede that frames and tables are the way to go.
My credibility has been questioned, my motives were questioned and mud was thrown using the previous allegations as proof. I saw the results of the attack. My credibility has been undermined and the biggest part of the problem is that there is nothing I can say that will allow me my dignity.
I am tired, despondent and really depressed right now. All I wanted with my sites was to build COPE, That dream is seemingly being dismantled. All I want right now is for the lies to end. All I want is for the lies to be removed.

I think there is another lesson to be learned here. This whole thing started because you and person X did not see eye to eye on some political viewpoints…conversations like that end up in the gutter even when people are trying to be civil.
Next time you are in a situation like that, count to 10 and rise above it.
