I see people join social networks and act like total boors. Would you go to a networking breakfast and act in the same way. Social networking is about interaction, It’s about conversation, It’s about the other guy as well. Social Networking is not about advertising, It’s about marketing.

When people start asking the questions you want to answer you have gained their trust, Gaining trust is not going to happen in 5 minutes. It takes time, it takes interaction. Stop, think, take part in the conversation. Use Social networking well and it will treat you well. Spam everyone and they will ignore you.
Have you seen the block and unfriend buttons, People do use them. When I get a new follower, or friend or fan, I will watch and see what they have to offer, but they get only one opportunity to spam me before I dump them.
