I am finally going to achieve one of my dreams. Andre and I are going to explore Southern Africa on bikes. Andre and I have decided that we will be exploring Southern Africa on Bikes with a major trip through Africa as well in the next four years. You will be able to follow our adventures on the web.
Andre’s Kawasaki KLR650 arrived last month and he has added a few 1000 k’s already. Mine will be ready within the next four weeks. I am very excited and cannot wait for the big day. The first major trip will happen in June and July next year (2010) We plan on spending 45 days in Namibia criss crossing and checking out all of the hidey holes and places that have to be seen. We will not be doing the tourist trail but looking for stuff that only the locals know about.
Preparation is under way. I have started on the excercise bicycle. Need to lose a few kg’s and get the stamina and fitness levels up to standard. I would happily accept sponsorship in the form of a personal trainer and a gym contract for both of us from a well known gym in Nelspruit, for which we will place an add on our website and write about our experiences and results.
Before we do the big one we are planning a couple of shorter trips to acclimatise ourselves to the bikes and get some real experience, so that we know what we need to carry, and what is excess baggage. The first trip will take place in December. The Sani Pass and Lesotho are the goal. In March we will tacle the beaches and dirt in Mozambique.
These two short trips will be the major part of our preparation. We are also going to do many day and weekend jaunts to try the silly stuff like river crossings, mountain climbing and trials.
We are of course willing to accept sponsorship in exchange for advertising on the website and maybe even a badge on the jacket or we wear your logo on our T shirts.
We will be keeping everyone informed of progress using facebook, Twitter and other social networks including Flickr and Zoopy.

Hello from Latvia Guy!
Found your site because of Ed Dale:-) But the story isn’t about this.
Africa is the one of my dream ( I hope achievable) enduro destinations.
It is interesting for me how’s your progress with the trip. I know from my experience that physical condition is very important for shorter or longer trips. But preparing of the bike and technical skills of the rider are essential.
If I have understood right you are going som time soon. I hope I will see some trip report here.
