I am a lover of spicy food like chilli sauces, chilli relish, peri peri and most peppers, but I have a problem. I suffer from a hiaetus hernia so spicy stuff can play havoc with my system. Curries only if they are green, that red stuff keeps me awake for days.
Anyway I like finding stuff that I can eat, Lee from Jolli Maz popped in the other day to talk about a website and left me a bottle of her world famous Chilli Relish, Its based on a Mauritian Mazavaroux recipe, hence the name Jolli Maz. That mazavaroux is a bugger on the South African tongue, so Maz it is.
Jolli Maz is a chilli relish, It is a chilli side that can make most meals a little more exciting. What I like about this chilli relish is that it bites and only lingers for a short while. Most chilli sauces tend to linger longer than is comfortable, and they repeat on me. Most chilli sauces will make the reflux that I suffer from just that much worse.
Jolli Maz, the chilli relish does none of the above, It bites going down without destroying the taste of the food it is mixed with. I made my new favourite sandwich, Cheese, tomato and chilli relish on brown bread. I tasted the cheddar, I tasted the tomato and the chilli relish sharpened up the sandwich just enough to make it bite back.
I sit here wanting a third sandwich just because it tasted so damn good, knowing that it’s a bad idea because I’ll get reflux from the huge amount of food rather than the chilli relish.
This review is unsolicited and not paid for. I seriously like Jolli Maz chilli relish. If you want me to review your product send a sample to me, and if I like it I will review it. If you send some money, I will definitely review it. the difference is that the review will be marked as solicited and paid for.
Mind you if you have a bad product and are hoping I’ll give it a good write up just because you are paying me, it does not work like that.

Hey G…
I make a chilli/pepper pickle that’s also awesome… Remind me next time we visit to bring/make some! It’s mild enough to be eaten on toast (my favourite!), or you can use it in any cooked dish. Darn! Now you are making me want to dive into the fridge for bread and pickle!
